I hope this doesn’t come off as preachy, but I need to voice this out, considering other creators’ unwillingness to acknowledge their part in consumerism(specifically ones who continue to cross picket lines and use exploitative forms of capital gain). At this point in my life, I understand how crucial the fight against fascism is by any means possible. Fascist policies have had an upward trend globally. I don’t think it’s necessary to explain the danger this puts us all in(im not here to educate quite yet, use google or dm me let’s talk about it). Some of the only power(while minuscule) we are granted in this world(Cis-het-normative-white-patriarchy) is where we spend our money. I have been figuring out what place Philophobia has in this fight, not out of ego but out of love for the oppressed peoples of the planet. I am currently working on a 1 of 1 capsule (I wanted to move in silence goddamnit!) made up of entirely second-hand items acquired from scrap and second-hand stores (I do understand supporting evil corporations like Goodwill is not the move but it’s hard to steal 30 pounds of denim, at least it’s being saved from a landfill and doesn’t produce any more foreign underpaid labor, shoutout the bins workers) I think this is important since large distributing companies don’t need any more of my money. It is my intention moving forward, that Philophobia will primarily use secondhand and used materials to craft its garments while serving as a way to generate profits for the oppressed people of the planet, and the support of the inevitable revolution against fascism. Thanks for reading, I am open and eager to have conversations and take criticisms about this so please comment or DM me.
